October 2012 Hobnob
Having picked yet another beautiful sunny day (that's at least the second we've had this year!). It was great to have over 32 HOBs turn up for our second meeting. The catering was excellent and thanks for that go to Dick Homewood. There was beer a-plenty and that lasted all the longer for having no glasses to drink it from, once corrected, many a thirst was quenched!

As organiser, I was really impressed with the number of responses I received to the invitation (over 90 out of 117) and it was clear that if lady luck had smiled a little harder we would have had well over 50 attendees.

On the pitch we watched an intriguingly close game, which unfortunately had to be abandoned shortly after half time, due to a serious injury (and a slow ambulance) with Harwell being 14 - 17 down to a much fancied Swindon College Old Boys team. NEWS UPDATE: The injured Harwell player suffered a prolapsed disc, is now on crutches and should make a full recovery. Our best wishes to him

Looking forward, Steve Wright is now our representative on the club committee and he will be discussing when and what the next event should be. Steve is also going to set up a separate HOBs bank account to hold the excess funds collected on the day, such that we can eventually make a significant contribution to the club.

Thanks to all who turned up and made a great day of it and watch this space for news of the next HOB
